Samobor Jazz Festival
Prominent jazz festival organized by the oldest city music band in Croatia - City Music Band Samobor.
In may every year, Samobor becomes the city of jazz, during the festival organized by the oldest city music band in Croatia - Samobor City Music Band.
The Festival is organized on volunteering basis, and the author of the Festival is Dubravko Mihalinec-Miha, Secretary of the City Music Band Samobor. The Festival is based on a combination of small jazz ensembles (young musicians) over the week at the Havana Cafe, while the Big Band of City Music Band Samobor performs outdoors on sunday, at the main Samobor square.
The organizer of the festival is the City Music Band Samobor, the oldest city music band in Croatia, a nonprofit amateur association in culture. The project's author and conceptual initiator is a member of the Samobor Music Band Board of Management, secretary Dubravko Mihalinec. With the help of the conductor of City Music Band Samobor, professor Robert Polgar as a professional advisor, the 2017. Samobor Festival will be held for the sixth time in a row. Under the patronage of the City of Samobor and with the help of the Zagreb County, in the co-organization with Samobor Tourist Board, several donors and with the media sponsorship of Radio Samobor and Glasnik Samobora i Svete Nedelje, the festival traditionally brings together domestic and foreign jazz groups in their performances during the last weekend in may. Combined with Big Band performances, this amateur-organized Festival is unique in Croatia for its structure and duration. It brings an additional content to the cultural and musical tourism offer in Samobor.
