Samobor Jazz Festival

Every year at the end of May, Samobor becomes a city of top jazz organized by the oldest City Music in Croatia - City Music Samobor, which was founded by the Samobor teacher and organist Josip Herović in 1807.

The Festival is organized by volunteers, and the idea of the Festival is a combination of performances by smaller jazz groups during 4 to 5 evenings of the club program and performances by larger groups and big bands at King Tomislav Square, the "Bunker" Youth Center and in the large hall of the Croatian Home in Samobor. The last day of the festival, on Sunday, is reserved for the performance of the Samobor City Music and guests.

The organizer of the Festival is the City Music of Samobor, the oldest city music in Croatia, a non-profit amateur cultural association. The author of the project and the originator of the idea is a member of the Board of Directors of the City Music Samobor, secretary Dubravko Mihalinec. The Samobor Jazz Festival has been held continuously since 2005. Under the auspices of the City of Samobor and with the help of the Zagreb County and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, the co-organization of TZ Samobor and POU Samobor, several donors and with the media patronage of Radio Samobor, the Festival traditionally gathers young local and foreign jazz groups that host famous names of our and foreign jazz scene. In combination with the performance of larger ensembles and Big Bands, this amateur-organized Samobor Jazz Festival is unique in its structure and duration in Croatia and is an additional part of the cultural and musical tourist offer of the city of Samobor.
