Cerinski vir Waterfall

The most picturesque waterfall in the Samobor hill range.

Cerinski vir Waterfall

The most picturesque waterfall in the Samobor hill range is located in the canyon of the Javorec stream and was hidden from the eyes of local mountain climbers for a long time. Finally, they accidentally found it in 1927 when returning from a hike to Japetić. It is hidden in the woods and separated from the world by what up until recently were almost inaccessible paths. Its sound can be heard long before reaching a crack where a beautiful, 10 metres high waterfall pours down. It is awe-inspiring in spring and autumn when it is abundant with water, while in the summer it can dry up.

Up until 2016 a walk to Cerinski vir demanded somewhat more energy by mountaineers and hikers than it is the case in any other amazing destinations in the Samobor area. In 2016 the path leading to the waterfall was made more accessible thanks to the efforts of the Croatian Mountaineering Club Saint Patrick. After renovating the mountain hut in the village Cerina, cleaning up a part of the Javorec stream, clearing a part of the paths and placing two bridges over the stream, they made it possible for all those ready for a small forest adventure to reach the bottom of the creek more easily and enjoy one more gem in the Samobor hill range.
