Saint Petka’s Chapel

The only church in Croatia with a four-leaf layout, and also one of a dozen in the Middle and South-eastern Europe, Saint Petka’s chapel is located in Budinjak. To be more precise, its remnants, that is, foundations, because the old chapel was pulled down at the beginning of the 19th century so at present, as part of the archaeological research in the Žumberak – Samoborsko gorje Nature Park, there are works on the setting precise date of the chapel and the discovery of additional information on this unique building. The foundations have been preserved, and near them is the chapel of Saint Petronilla, which was destroyed in the Second World War and then renovated in 1978 and 1980.
