Samobor Tourist Board introduces mVisitor

World Tourism Day is commemorated today under the global slogan “Rethinking Tourism“. Using that slogan, the World Tourism Organisation emphasises that now, after all the adversities that have struck the tourist sector in the last two years, it is the right time and occasion to rethink the future of tourism.

That implies putting people and the planet first and gathering all stakeholders, including governments, businesses and local communities around the common vision of a more sustainable, more inclusive and more resilient tourism sector, the World Tourism Organisation explains.

Croatia also puts emphasis on resilience and sustainability of tourism and on the fruitful results of this year’s tourist season with the turnover close to the reference year of 2019.

This year the total of 10.643 arrivals (out of which 3.705 of domestic and 6.938 of foreign guests) and 24.697 overnight stays (out of which 8.329 of domestic and 16.368 of foreign guests) were registered in Samobor. Most guests came from Germany, Hungary, Turkey, Asian countries, the Netherlands, Poland, the USA, Italy and Bulgaria. Tourism is recovering well, there are no more pandemic-related restrictions, but there are new geopolitical and economic challenges. So, in line with the current topic of the World Tourism Day, it is necessary to ponder on the further development of tourism and put an emphasis on sustainability and ecology.

On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Samobor Tourist Board enabled all renters from the Samobor region a faster and simpler means of registering tourists through a free mobile application, the so-called mVisitor.

The application mVisitor enables registering tourists in only a few clicks using a mobile phone and scanning an identity document. It is coordinated with the existing platform eVisitor and it automatically stores data within the system. The TAN table for logging into the application is not required for the use of mVisitora.

This represents a further step towards digitalisation in tourism. The basic characteristics of the system include a more direct and quality communication between the Tourist Board and the renters, and a faster, simpler and digitalised registration of guests using the preCheck In. It is an extremely user-friendly platform both for renters and guests, directing each registered guest to Tourist Board’s web contents and applications, thus additionally familiarising guests with the local offer. The upgrades of the application are simple and the system updates weekly.
